Along with his work as caretaker of the Man Mound outside of Baraboo, Rob will tell some of the interesting stories that go along with determining the location of effigy mounds using obscure geographical descriptions, and the potential for using more modern GIS techniques in ongoing efforts to care for these sacred sites.

The Lake Lawn area was the site of an extensive area of effigy and other burial mounds, some of which still exist.  It was a large group described as containing as many a 100 mounds, but only 59 were described or mapped.  Others were effaced before there were any significant efforts to document them.
